A pilot study was conducted regarding the use of an assistive technology device to improve daily living activities in a young woman with fragile X syndrome with low average intelligence. Baseline data was recorded on a data sheet, by the subject and her mother, on a series of activities of daily living skills which she was routinely having difficulty completing using a low-tech device (a written checklist). The Tickle Box (Adaptive Learning Company) was then introduced and the data collected using the same format. Data collected during a six week trial was then analyzed. There was a statistically significant difference overall on the number of tasks completed during the trial period (t=2.84, p< .05).
